Mr Ashfaque Uddin Chowdhury, a renowned banker of the country, has passed away (Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un).
He breathed his last at his residence in Dhaka city’s Uttara at 6.00 pm on Sunday (Sept 04, 2022), according to a press release.
Mr Chowdhury was the Founding Managing Director of Dhaka Bank Ltd, Founding Managing Director of One Bank Ltd and an Advisor of Shahjalal Islami Bank Ltd. He was also a founding member of Prime University. He was also involved in various social and educational activities and set up a Hafizia Madrassa for orphan girls in his home village of Pyiam, Habiganj.
He leaves behind his wife, and three sons, Mr Adnan Chowdhury an educationist, Mr Adil Chowdhury a banker and currently President & Managing Director (CC) of Bank Asia and Mr Ahrar Chowdhury a readymade garments businessman.
