A Bangladesh youth was rescued from India is yearning to be reunited with his family.
The youth regained his memory after undergoing treatment at the Hyderabad-based State-run Institute of Mental Health (IMH).
Hakeem, 30, was admitted in the home run by the Annam Seva Foundation here on Wednesday evening after being discharged from the IMH.
The youth ended up on the streets over two years ago before being rescued by volunteers of the Annam Seva Foundation, led by social worker Annam Srinivas Rao.
He was sent to the IMH in the State capital, following the intervention of the District Legal Services Authority in March 2016, and he underwent treatment for a little over 20 months.
The youth provided some details about his family after regaining memory, said Mr. Srinivas Rao. He jotted down some details of his native place — Barhatta in Netrokona district — on a piece of paper and said he hailed from an agricultural family.
He is unmarried and his parents and two brothers live in a village under the Barhatta police station limits, Mr. Rao said.
“We will seek the support of the authorities at the State and the national level to establish contact with the officials in Bangladesh,” said Rao, reports, The Hindu.
