Bangladesh top in South Asia to establish gender equity, says Indira 

State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatunnesa Indira said Bangladesh has been ranked at the top among all South Asian countries for establishing equity-based society management. 

"Bangladesh is now a role model across the world in women empowerment, development and for establishing gender equity," she said. 

The state minister said this while speaking at a 'Rainwater harvesting system handed over and operational activities' ceremony on Tuesday afternoon as the chief guest at Garkhali Pally Mangal Government Primary School ground at no-7 Tildanga union under Dakope upazila of the district. 

Terming government is working tirelessly for the well-being of women, she said gender equity has now been achieved in primary and secondary education levels, adding: "Women are getting the opportunity of economic activities to enhance their skill through training in 35 trades." 

Pregnant women can get economical assistance side by side with other facilities on an advanced basis and create job opportunities through the 'Tathya Apa' project. 

Chaired by Khulna Deputy Commissioner Moniruzzaman Talukder, Upazila Women Affair Officer Surayia Siddiqa conducted the event. 

Zila Parishad Chairman Sheikh Harun-ur-Rashid, a parliament member for women reserved seat in Batiaghat-Dakope constituency advocate Gloria Jharna, Chairman of National Women Association Chemon Ara Tayeb, Director General of Directorate of Women Farida Parvin, Joint Secretary of Women and Children Affairs Ministry Nahid Manjura Afroj addressed, among others. 

Earlier, Indira visited the construction place of the office of Deputy Director of Women Affairs Office at Sher-e-Bangla Road in the city and exchanged views with its officials and employee. 

"A 10-storey complex building will be built here," she announced.
