Bangladesh to greet Erdogan with mangoes

Bangladesh is set to greet the newly re-elected Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan with different varieties of local mangoes.

Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal is set to hand over the gift to the Turkish president on Monday night.

The minister and his delegation left Dhaka for Turkish capital Ankara on Monday morning with the premier’s gift of 100 kilogrammes of the delicious fruit.

Erdogan will be sworn in as president through a ceremony at the President Palace in Ankara at 9:00pm Bangladesh time.

The gift is expected to reach Erdogan before the oath-taking ceremony takes place.

AHM Mustafa Kamal will represent Bangladesh at the swearing-in ceremony, said a ministry statement.

Mr Erdogan was re-elected as the Turkish president after he won in the June 24 elections with over 52 per cent votes.
