Bangladesh reports two more dengue deaths this season

At least two more dengue patients died and 53 more people were hospitalised with the mosquito-borne disease across the country in the last 24 hours.

On June 21 this year, the country’s first dengue death of the season was reported.

An official at the Health Emergency Operation Center &Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) told the FE that two new dengue patients died in Cox's Bazar district.

However, the official could not give further details on the dead patients.

Among the new patients, 18 new cases were reported from outside the Dhaka division, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

A total of 170 patients are receiving treatments at 47 public and private hospitals in the capital until Sunday morning while the remaining thirteen are being treated outside Dhaka.

Some 222 patients in public and private hospitals across the country have been receiving treatment now, the DGHS data reveals.

Some 1,723 patients have been admitted to different hospitals in the country with dengue from January 1, 2022, to July 17, 2022, the report said.

A total of 1,498 such patients were released from the hospitals across the country from January 1, 2022, to July 17, 2022, it added.
