Bangladesh reports 65 Covid deaths, 1,739 new cases

Bangladesh has registered 65 new fatalities from the coronavirus in a day, taking the death toll to 11,644.

The caseload rose by 1,739 in a 24-hour count on Monday to 763,682, according to data released by the government.

Another 3,834 people recovered from the illness through treatment at home and in hospital care, bringing the tally of recoveries to 691,162.

As many as 19,431 samples were tested across the country in the last 24 hours, yielding a positivity rate of 8.95 per cent.

The latest official figures put the recovery rate at 90.5 per cent, while the mortality rate stands at 1.52 per cent.

Globally, over 152.88 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus and 3.2 million have died, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019, reports bdnews24.com.
