Bangladesh reports highest single-day infection in 80 days

Bangladesh reported 2,419 coronavirus cases and 28 deaths in the last 24 hours till 8:00am on Monday.

The country witnessed the highest number of single-day infection since September 3, taking the total infection toll to almost 450,000, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) data available.

Some 28 people died in the past 24 hours in the country raising the death toll in the novel coronavirus to 6,416, said DGHS. 

Coronavirus cases have also spiraled in the last couple of days, raising fears of the second wave in the winter season.

A total of 2,183 Covid patients recovered during the last 24 hours under review, the DGHS added.

According to the DGHS release, a total of 16,059 samples were tested at the country’s 117 authorised labs during the same period, bringing the total number of samples tested to over 2.6 million so far.
