Bangladesh records lowest coronavirus deaths since May 28

Bangladesh on Wednesday registered another 16 deaths from novel coronavirus – the lowest daily fatalities since May 28, when the country had reported 15 deaths.

With the latest fatalities, the death toll from Covid-19 reached 5,593, according to official data.

Meanwhile, some 1,684 fresh infections were recorded during the period, pushing the total case count to 382,959, according to a press release from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday.

As many as 1,576 patients made recovery during the 24-hour period, the release added.

The recovery rate also rose to 77.67 per cent while the death rate remained at 1.46 per cent, it read.

Of the deceased, 13 were men and three women.

The country tested a total of 14,411 samples in its 109 authorised labs during the period under review, bringing the total number of samples tested to over 2.0 million, according to the DGHS release.
