Bangladesh passport 104th on global index

Bangladeshi passport has been placed in 104th position among 112 in a latest global Index indicating its poor acceptance in many travel destinations.

The green passport holders can enter only 41 international destinations without a prior visa, according to the Henley Passport Index Q3 2022 edition that was revealed on Tuesday.

The south Asian nation shares the position with African country Lybia and Europe's Kosovo.

Bangladesh was ranked 103rd position among 111 in the fourth quarter edition of 2021.

UK-based investment migration consultancy Henley & Partners prepared the ranking based on exclusive and official data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

Containing expert commentary and historical data spanning 17 years, the Henley Passport Index is the ranking of all the world's passports according to the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa.

According to the latest version of the global report, Japan tops the list as its passport holders can visit 193 destinations without a prior visa.

Singapore and South Korea-whose citizens can get instant access to 192 international destinations-shared the second position.

Other top countries in the list include Germany, Spain, Finland, Italy, Luxembourg, Austria, Denmark, Netherlands, and Sweden.

On the other hand, among low-scoring courtiers, Bangladesh is followed by North Korea at 105th position, while Nepal and Palestinian Territory shared the same position of 106.

Afghanistan was placed in the 112th position with its people having prior-visa-free access to only 27 destinations, the report said.

The report said Russian passport holders are more cut off from the rest of the world than ever before, as sanctions, travel bans, and airspace closures limit Russian citizens from accessing all but a few destinations in Asia and the Middle East.

The Russian passport currently sits at 50th place on the index, with a visa-free or visa-free on arrival score of 119, it added.
