Bangladesh Navy gets  two new warships

Two new warships equipped with modern technology and advanced equipment were received by the Bangladesh Navy at Chattogram Naval Jetty on Saturday.

‘Sangram’ and ‘Prottyasha’, both 90-metre long and 11-metre wide, are capable of hitting enemy airplanes, ships and establishments, the Inter Service Public Relation said in a statement.

The warships, with top speed of 25 nautical miles per hour, have deck landing and takeoff facilities for helicopters. They are equipped with modern artillery guns, land to air and ground-to-ground missiles.

They also have sophisticated 3D radars, radar jamming systems, fire control systems, and various types of combat equipment.

The ships, which can be deployed for a long time in the deep sea, will help ensure greater security of Bangladesh’s maritime resources.

They have been procured as part of the government’s efforts to modernise and strengthen the armed forces.

Chattogram Naval area Commander Rear Admiral Abu Ashraf welcomed the ships, made by China, at Chattogram Naval Jetty. Senior navy officials and a large number of sailors were also presen, reports UNB.
