Bangladesh logs three deaths, 233 Covid cases in 24 hours

Bangladesh has recorded 233 cases of Covid-19 in a daily count, raising the tally of infections to 1,949,486.

The death toll from the disease climbed by three in 24 hours to 29,111, according to the latest government data released on Sunday.

As many as 12,366 samples were tested across the country, for a positivity rate of 1.88 per cent, reports bdnews24.com.

Among the eight divisions, Dhaka recorded the highest number of cases and deaths, with 180 infections and two fatalities.

Another 1,417 people recovered from the illness nationwide, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,860,886.

The latest figures put the recovery rate at 95.46 percent and the mortality rate at 1.49 per cent.

Globally, over 456.82 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus and 6.04 million have died, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
