Bangladesh logs 27 new Covid cases, zero deaths

Bangladesh has registered 27 new cases of Covid-19 in a day, taking the overall tally of infections to 1,952,583.

The government recorded no deaths in the 24-hour count, keeping the total toll from the disease unchanged at 29,127, according to the latest data released on Monday.

As many as 6,251 samples were tested across the country, for a positivity rate of 0.43 per cent.

Among the eight divisions, Dhaka recorded the highest number of cases, with 20 infections, as per a bdnews24.com report.

Another 299 people recovered from the illness nationwide, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,893,759.

The latest figures put the recovery rate at 96.99 per cent and the mortality rate at 1.49 per cent.

Globally, over 509.55 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus and 6.21 million have died, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
