Bangladesh High Commission in Brunei celebrates Golden Jubilee of independence

The High Commission of Bangladesh in Bandar Seri Begawan celebrated the Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence in a jubilant manner on 26 March 2021.

Ms Nahida Rahman Shumona, the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Negara Brunei Darussalam paid homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing floral wreaths at his portrait.

The programme, held at the chancery premises, also observed one-minute silence, recited from the Holy Quran, Dua, and Monajaat/Special Prayer, for the salvation of the departed soul of Bangabandhu, martyrs of his family and all other martyrs as well as for the peace and prosperity of Bangladesh.

The High Commissioner and other officials of the High Commission read out messages kindly sent by the president, the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister, and the State Minister for Foreign Affairs on this auspicious occasion, says a press release.

 A documentary made on the various phases of the war of liberation was screened before the Bangladeshi community.

The High Commissioner of Bangladesh, in her closing remarks, proudly hailed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation, as the greatest Bengali of all times.

She inspired everyone to wake up to materialise the dream of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, to build the 'Sonar Bangla'. Several Members of the Bangladeshi community also expressed their views and feelings about this momentous occasion.
