The existing ban on movement of passengers through the Indo- Bangladesh border is extended to June 30.

Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen said this after an inter-ministerial coordination meeting.

He also said Bangladesh is considering to resume air bubble with India specially on Dhaka- Delhi route from next month.

He said that a good number of Indian consultants, engaged in several development projects in Bangladesh, cannot join their workplaces due to the restrictions causing delay in implementation of the projects.

If air bubble would start they can easily join their workplaces in Bangladesh, he noted.

The foreign secretary also pointed out that several hundred Indian and Nepali medical students require to enter Bangladesh to continue their studies here.

The meeting also discussed how to facilitate their studies through ensuring their entry after quarantine.

Expressing his satisfaction over the fall in the transmission of Covid in India, he hoped that the movement of people and goods will be normalised gradually.

On vaccine issue he said Bangladesh is continuing its discussion with China and Russia.

Apart from that, Bangladesh is closely engaged with the USA and Japan for collecting their surplus vaccines.
