BD Embassy in Japan observes National Mourning Day

Bangladesh Embassy in Japan observed the National Mourning Day in a befitting manner on Thursday.

On August 15, 1975, Bangabandhu, the architect of the nation’s independence, was assassinated along with most members of his family at his Dhanmondi official residence in Dhaka.

At the beginning of the day’s programme in Tokyo, Ambassador Rabab Fatima lowered the national flag to half-mast at the embassy premises in the morning (local time), reports UNB.

She placed wreaths at the portrait of the Father of the Nation and stood there in solemn silence for a minute showing respect to Bangabandhu and his family.

A special dua was offered for the eternal peace and salvation of the departed souls.

Guests, expatriates and leaders of Japan Awami League and its front organisations paid tributes to the Father of the Nation by placing wreaths.

At the programme, a documentary on the life and political works of Bangabandhu was screened.
