Bangladesh and China have signed three documents on security cooperation in Dhaka city.

The documents were signed at a home minister-level meeting, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan told reporters after the meeting at the Secretariat on Friday.

Bangladesh side sought China's role to repatriate Rohingya people from Bangladesh to their homes in Myanmar, he said.

“Chinese side has appreciated Bangladesh government support in protecting Chinese investment and for providing safety for them,” the minister added.

Chinese Minister and Party Committee Secretary of the Ministry of Public Security Zhao Kezhi and Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan led the two sides at the meeting.

Before the bilateral meeting that last for around two hours, the Chinese minister was given a guard of honour in presence of his Bangladesh counterpart Asaduzzaman Khan, UNB reported.

The Chinese Minister arrived in the capital on Thursday on a three-day visit to attend the meeting. He met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday evening.

This is the highest-level visit so far from China this year.

The Chinese said bilateral relations have been elevated to the 'Strategic Partnership of Cooperation', which maintains a new momentum of cooperation between the armed forces of the two nations.
