Bangladesh adds 2,744 virus cases, 42 deaths in daily count

Confirmed cases of coronavirus infection in Bangladesh reached 213,254 on Wednesday, a rise of 2,744 from the previous day, while related deaths increased by 42 to 2,751; according to data released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Additional Director General (Admin) of DGHS Dr Nasima Sultana presented the latest figures while briefing the media live on the daily Covid-19 bulletin at 2:30pm today.

The fresh coronavirus infections were found after testing 12,050 samples across the country, she said.

Among the new deaths, 30 are male and the rest are female.

Also, 1,805 more patients have recovered from the disease during the 24-hour period, bringing the total number of recoveries to 117,202.

Globally, 15,107,950 people have been infected by the novel coronavirus and 619,817 people died as of Wednesday noon, according to the worldometer.

Of them, 5,359,776 are currently being treated with 63,637 remain in serious or critical condition.

So far, 9,128,357 people have recovered.
