Bangladesh adds 2,695 virus cases, 48 deaths in daily count

Confirmed cases of coronavirus infection in Bangladesh reached 234,889 on Thursday, a rise of 2,695 from the previous day, while related deaths increased by 48 to 3,083; according to data released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Additional Director General (Admin) of DGHS Dr Nasima Sultana presented the latest figures while briefing the media live on the daily Covid-19 bulletin at 2:30pm today.

The fresh coronavirus infections were found after testing 12,937 samples across the country, she said.

Among the newly deceased, 36 were male and the rest were female.

Also, 2,668 more patients have recovered from the disease during the 24-hour period, bringing the total number of recoveries to 132,960.

Globally, 17,201,686 people have been infected by the novel coronavirus and 670,463 people died as of Thursday noon, according to the Worldometer.

Of the infected, 5,814,373 are currently being treated with 66,398 remain in serious or critical condition.

So far, 10,716,850 people have recovered.
