Bangladesh adds 1,537 fresh virus cases, 22 deaths in daily count

Bangladesh registered another 22 deaths from novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours to 8:00am on Tuesday, taking the total number of fatalities to 5,577 in the country since the first virus death was reported on March 18, according to official data.

Besides, some 1,537 fresh infections were recorded during the period, pushing the total case count to 381,275, according to a press release from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

As many as 1,482 Covid-19 patients made recovery during the 24-hour period, the release added, saying that the total number of recoveries now stands at 295,873.

The recovery rate also rose to 77.60 per cent while the death rate remained 1.46 per cent, it read.

Of the deceased, 17 were men and 5 women.

The country tested a total of 13,815 samples in its 109 authorised labs during the period under review, bringing the total number of samples tested to over 2.0 million, according to the DGHS release.
