Bangla Academy turns 63 today

Bangla Academy has turned 63 today (on Sunday) with the 62nd founding anniversary being celebrated in a befitting manner and festivity.

The country's national language authority, Bangla Academy was founded on December 03, 1955 as the outcome of the language movement of 1952.

It’s located at Burdwan House in Ramna, Dhaka, within the grounds of the University of Dhaka and Suhrawardy Udyan.

Marking the anniversary, Bangla Academy has chalked out elaborate programmes, said a press release on Saturday.

The programmes began at 10:00am through placing wreaths at Shaheed Minar. Later, a discussion and cultural function took place at Rabindra Chattar of the academy at 4:00pm.

Bangla Academy President Emeritus Professor Dr Anisuzzaman will preside over the discussion while Professor Golam Murshid will address as the key speaker.

Bangla Academy Director General Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan will deliver the welcome speech, the release added.
