Experts at a workshop in the city have called for raising awareness among people, especially the youth section of society, to prevent cyber crime and extremism in the country.

There is no alternative but awareness building to grow a tolerant mindset among the public for prevention of extremism in society, they observed.

Cyber Crime Awareness (CCA) Foundation organised the workshop on 'Cyber Crime Awareness and Prevention of Violent Extremism' at Bishwo Shahitto Kendro.

Held in association with Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF) , the workshop drew a large stream of visitors from different educational institutions.

"Extremism flares up violence. Extremists are now using social media platforms to disseminate their thoughts and vicious philosophies," said trainer expert Mehedi Hasan at the workshop on Thursday.

And, some youths are being enticed into extremism keeping them in dark about all other things, and this is cyber crime, he added.

CCA Foundation president Kazi Mustafiz and office secretary Mominul Islam addressed the event, among others.

There is necessity of the youth community in the fight against cyber crime, and awareness building in this regard is highly imperative, the experts opined.
