A case has been filed against a grocer for his alleged attempt to rape a schoolgirl at Pena village in Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj district.
The accused was identified as Hiru Mollah, 55, who runs a grocery shop at the village, reports UNB.
According to the case statement, Hiru Mollah took the Class-VI girl to a sugarcane field by his shop on August 14 and tried to violate her there.
Hearing victim's screams, locals rushed in, rescued the girl and caught the pervert. They also gave him a good beating.
However, Hiru managed to flee at one stage.
On Thursday, victim's mother lodged a case with Kashiani Police Station over the incident.
Sub-inspector Shital Chandra Das, also the investigation officer of the case, said they were trying to arrest the accused.
