At least 10 people have died and some others are missing in a boat accident in Brahmanbaria’s Sadar Upazila.
It overturned after a head-on collision with a sand-laden trawler in Loiska Beel around 5:15 pm on Friday, locals and police said.
Anisur Rahman, superintendent of police in the district, confirmed the death toll.
The passenger boat from Champaknagar of Bijoynagar Upazila was bound for Anandabazar pier of the town, reports bdnews24.com.
The police and Fire Service and Civil Defence have launched a rescue operation for the missing.
The authorities could not confirm how many were unaccounted for.
