Arundhati Roy’s talk to go on, at new venue in Dhaka

India’s celebrated author Arundhati Roy’s talk will be held but at a new venue in Dhaka city.

The new venue is Midas Centre 10th floor, House 5, Road 16 (New). Old road 27 Dhanmondi, Dhaka 1209, organisers say.

The talk titled ‘Utmost Everything—Arundhati Roy in conversation with Shahidul Alam’ will start at 6 in the evening, they say.

Those interested in attending the event had to register for this.

The organisers called on all the attendees to come an hour before the event, of course with a copy of their registration.

Late last night, Dhaka Metropolitan Police withdrew its permission for the event to be held at the capital’s Krishibid Institute, attributing it to “unavoidable circumstances” only.

Roy arrived in Dhaka on Sunday to attend the event, organised by Chobi Mela, the first festival of photography in South Asia, which is held every two years in Dhaka.
