Noted Indian author Arundhati Roy’s talk scheduled to be held at the Krishibid Institute Auditorium in city on Tuesday (today), was cancelled after Dhaka Metropolitan Police withdrew its permission for the event.
In a media release in the early hours of Tuesday, organisers of Chobi Mela said the DMP attributed the withdrawal to ‘unavoidable circumstances.’
“Extremely shocked at this decision,” they apologised to those who had looked forward to this event.
Arundhati Roy was supposed to visit Bangladesh for the first time through the event.
