‘Arrest of Rozina very unfortunate’

Terming the arrest of Rozina Islam ‘very unfortunate’ Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said the government is facing criticism because of a handful of people.

“The health ministry should manage this issue. Due to a handful of people, we are facing criticism. We in the foreign ministry have to take the heat because different quarters are asking questions about this issue” the minister told the newsmen after his meeting with the Ambassador of South Korea in the city on Thursday.

“It is a very unfortunate incident because this government led by Prime Minister Shikeh Hasina is a media-friendly government. We never restrict you ...we have nothing to hide. The incident that took place is very unfortunate”.

“Since it is sub-judice, I do not want to say much on the issue except that it is a very unfortunate incident and we hope that there will be no such incident in future,” the minister said.

He also praised the media for its contribution to the country.

“It is the media which exposed the corruption in purchasing pillows, and irregularities done by Shahed and his Regent Hospital. And the government has taken due action in all the incidents. You are helping the government a lot by unearthing this corruption” he pointed out.

As my colleagues in the ministry said yesterday, I also believe that journalist Rozina will get justice.
