Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh Army General Aziz Ahmed left Dhaka on Tuesday for India on a six-day visit, his first foreign tour after assuming office.

The visit of General Aziz to India will help strengthen mutual trust with the immediate neighbourhood, particularly in the field of defence cooperation, officials said.

During his stay in India, he will meet high-ranking dignitaries and visit important military installations at Agra, Lucknow and Deolali.

At Deolali, he will visit his alma-mater, School of Artillery, Deolali. General Aziz had undergone Long Gunnery Staff Course at the institution during 1992-1993, said a press release, UNB reported.
