Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBn) today (Thursday) detained a private airlines cabin crew member in possession of 10 kg gold from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka city.
APBn additional superintendent of police (Addl SP) Alamgir Hossain confirmed this, according to local media reports.
The cabin crew member detained in the gold smuggling incident was Rokeya Sheikh Mousumi, the reports said without mentioning the name of the private airlines.
Describing how they detained her along with the yellow metal, APBn Addl SP Hossain said a flight from the Muscat International Airport in Oman reached Dhaka around 11:00am.
As the crew of that flight, including Mousumi, were passing through the airport's green channel, a team of the APBn, tipped off, challenged and whisked her off to the customs zone, he said.
After searching through her, the APBN Addl SP said, the amount of the gold mentioned above was recovered.
