At least five people have been killed in so-called anti-drug shootouts with law-enforcement agencies in four districts during the ongoing anti-narcotics raids throughout the country.
Among them, two were killed in Kushtia and one in Natore in ‘crossfires’ with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). Another two persons died in ‘shootouts’ with police at Keraniganj in Dhaka, and Lakshmipur.
They were all engaged in drug-dealing, said law-enforcement agencies adding they were named in drug cases.
Law-enforcement agencies have been reporting deaths of ‘drug dealers’ in ‘shootouts’ almost every day since the nationwide drive against drugs began in May following a directive by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, according to a bdnews24 report.
At least 200 people have been killed in the last two months in similar incidents.
