Another loses limb in bus accident on Dhaka flyover

A man has lost his leg after being hit by a bus on the Mayor Mohammad Hanif flyover in Dhaka’s Jatrabari on Saturday.

The victim is identified as Md Russell, 25, says a bdnews24 report.

He is currently undergoing treatment at Square Hospital after first being admitted at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Police chased the bus down and arrested the driver near the National Press Club. The bus was also impounded.

According to the police, Russell was driving his car when it was rammed by a bus on the slopes of Jatrabari flyover.

He got out and tried to stop the bus, but the driver first hit him and ran over his leg.

Bachchu Miah, sub-inspector of DMCH Police Camp, told the agency that Russell’s left leg was amputated after locals rushed him to hospital.

The accident took place within a month of the accident that led to the death of student Rajib Hossain and accident of Rosina in the capital’s Banani.

On Apr 20, a young woman lost a leg after being hit by a bus in the capital’s Banani. She is undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation or Pongu Hospital.

That accident occurred only four days after the death of student, Rajib Hossain, who was undergoing treatment after losing an arm in a race between two buses that involved a BRTC double-decker in Dhaka’s Karwan Bazar on Apr 3.
