ANAME demands ‘comprehensive’ probe into Shitalakkhya launch capsize

The Association of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, Bangladesh or ANAME has called for an 'impartial and comprehensive' investigation into the capsize of a launch hit by a cargo vessel in the Shitalakkhya River in Narayanganj Sadar upazila.

“We demand an impartial and comprehensive probe in digging out the root cause of the manmade disaster in a proper scientific manner supervised by authentic maritime experts,” they said in a press release on Tuesday, a day after the cargo vessel MV Rupshi-9 hit the launch ML Afsar Uddin sinking it and leaving at least six people dead and 20 missing.

The ANAME also insisted on looking at the findings of the investigation into such past incidents and implementing recommendations based on those findings.
