Association for Land Reform and Development (ALRD), in association with Asian NGO Coalition for Agrarian Reform and Rural Development (ANGOC), has arranged an international workshop on land and water governance.
The two-day workshop styled ‘Land and Water Governance in Asia: Resource-Sharing and Cooperation’ organised at Brac Centre Inn in the capital.
The event, aiming to serve as platform, and to enhance capacities of Asian Civil Society Organisations (CSO) working on food security and sustainable livelihoods through promotion of land and resource rights and smallholder agriculture, began on Thursday.
Social Welfare Minister Rashed Khan Menon inaugurated the function as the chief guest.
Chairperson of Association for Land Reform and Development (ALRD) Khushi Kabir chaired the programme.
Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (Bela) Chief Executive Syeda Rizwana Hasan presented a paper on Land grabbing, Tran-boundary Water Sharing and Rights of Upper and Lower Riparian Communities.
Executive director of the ALRD gave address of welcome. Executive Director of ANGOC Nathaniel Don Marquez also spoke on the occasion.
