All the High Court (HC) benches are set to conduct virtual hearings from Wednesday (August 11) as the government announced the easing of Covid-19 restrictions, allowing the normal operation of offices, shops, markets and public transports.

Twelve benches of the High Court already started such hearings on Sunday (August 8).

All 53 HC benches will run online hearings as per the Adalat Kartrik Tathya Projukti Byabohar Ain 2020 and current practice directions, a circular issued by the Supreme Court authorities on Sunday night, said.

After 19 days of restrictions on movements of people, transports and businesses, the government on Sunday announced the relaxation of virus curbs from August 11, although an alarming surge of the highly contagious delta variant of the coronavirus continues unabated.

However, judicial proceedings of more virtual courts including the apex court resumed on Sunday after the regular court functions remained closed for 38 days till Saturday.
