Senior Awami League (AL) leader and member of the parliament Tofail Ahmed has been hospitalised with “shivering fever and pain in the upper part of abdomen”.
Tofail was diagnosed with a blood infection, chief consultant of cardiology at the Square Hospital in Dhaka, Dr Md Tawhiduzzaman, told bdnews24.com on Sunday.
“His condition is improving. He is fully oriented, can talk... blood pressure and pulse rate are also okay,” the doctor said.
Septuagenarian Ahmed is a member of Awami League’s advisory board.
The former commerce minister was admitted to the hospital on Thursday.
