‘Akash Beena’ makes maiden flight Wednesday

‘Akash Beena’, country’s first Dreamliner 787-8, will make its maiden flight from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the flight, reports UNB.

After the inauguration, 'Akash Beena' will fly for Kuala Lumpur later in the day, said Chairman of the Board of Directors of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Air Marshal (retd) Muhammad Enamul Bari on Tuesday.

Biman’s Managing Director and CEO AM Mosaddique Ahmed said three more hired aircraft will join the fleet of the national flag carrier soon.

Initially, 'Akash Beena' will fly to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur every day of the week, he said.

The Dreamliner's economy class fare for its Singapore flight has been set at $200 (excluding taxes and other surcharges) and its Kuala Lumpur flight at $290.

Earlier on August 19, Biman Bangladesh Airlines entered a new era in aviation through induction of Dreamliner aircraft in its fleet.

After landing in Dhaka from the US, it was received with the blowing of water cannons as it flew in from Seattle's Boeing Factory, after making an uninterrupted 15-hour flight.

The new aircraft, the fifteenth in Biman's fleet, was received by Mr Bari along with CEO and members of the board of directors of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

It will provide its passengers with wifi services at a height of 43,000 feet, allowing passengers to browse the internet or connect with their friends and family.
