The government has no plan to increase the age limit, to 35 years from the existing 30 years, for entering public service right now.
Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam made the statement at Parliament on Monday.
The minister was replying to a question from independent lawmaker Dr Rustum Ali Faraji (Pirojpur-3).
Ashraful said there is no severe session jam now in the universities and different educational institutions.
"Students now get 6-7 years time to apply for jobs after obtaining post-graduation degree despite having the 30 years age limit for entering public jobs," the minister said.
He said now students obtain their SSC and HSC degrees at their age of 16 and 18 respectively, while post-graduation degree at 23-24 years.
According to UNB, the minister also informed the parliament that some 360,000 posts still remain vacant in different ministries and other government agencies in the country.
Among the vacant posts, 48,246 are first class posts, while 54,294 second class ones, 182,737 third class ones and 73,984 fourth class posts, the minister said.
Ashraful said necessary steps have been taken to fill the vacant posts. Recruiting people to the vacant posts is a continuous process, he added.
