Bangladesh Railway today began selling advance train tickets  ahead of Eid-ul-Azha from five different places in Dhaka city.

Both online and offline or traditional sales began on the same day.

Online sale of tickets started at 6:00am, he said.

According to the authorities, 50 per cent of tickets will be sold through the railway app, SMS and website, local media reports say.

Advance intercity train tickets for August 8, 9, 10, and 11 will be sold on July 30 and 31 and August 1 and 2 respectively in rail stations at Kamalapur, Airport, Tejgaon, Banani and old Rail Bhaban in the city.

Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festival of Muslims, will be celebrated on August 12, if the Zul Hijjah moon is sighted on August 2.
