In a drive in the city on Sunday, the Anti- Corruption Commission (ACC) seized TK 8.0 million from the house of Deputy Inspector General of Prisons of Sylhet Partha Gopal Banik.
ACC deputy director (Public Relations) Pranab Kumar Bhatcharya told UNB that ACC director Muhammad Yusuf conducted the drive in Partha’s house after interrogating him at the ACC headquarters over irregularities in Chittagong Central Jail.
Partha Gopal, the former deputy DIG (Prison) Chattogram Division, and Prashanta Kumar Banik, senior jail super of Barishal Jail who also served as senior jail super of Chattogram Central jail, were interrogated at the ACC head office at 10:00am and 12:20pm respectively.
They were quizzed about corruption and irregularities at the Chattogram Central Jail.
A process is underway to file a case against Partha Gopal Banik, said the ACC official, reports UNB.
