ACC seeks info on govt projects to fight pandemic

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Sunday sent letters to three government organisations, including a ministry, seeking information about different procurement projects for tackling the Covid-19 pandemic.

The letters signed by ACC Director Mir Mohammad Zainul Abedin Shebly were sent to secretary, director general and director of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Directorate General of Health Services, and Central Medical Stores Depot (CMSD) respectively.

The commission requested the respective heads of the government organisations to deliver required information and records of different projects by June 30, according to ACC sources.

In the letters, ACC asked the ministry to provide information on procurement of different types of medical equipment and machineries to tackle COVID-19, including - mask, personal protective equipment (PPEs), sanitisers, ICU equipment, ventilators, PCR machines, test kits to detect virus, etc.

The ministry was also asked to provide detailed information about the projects related to pandemic response including - name of the projects, allocated fund and amount of the money spent and information of the implementing authorities.
