ACC probe underway against some govt officials

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has initiated a drive to probe against government officials over some allegations of embezzling money from 115 hajj pilgrims.

After getting some complains from four pilgrims about the matter, ACC conducted a drive in the city's Purana Paltan area on Monday, reports UNB.

A seven member enforcement team of ACC including law enforcers took part in the drive led by an ACC assistant director Masudur Rahman following complaints lodged by some sufferers to the ACC's Hotline 106.

The enforcement team collected the agency's trade license and other information including e-TIN. Further details of the drive outcome could not be known yet.

Alongside, the team also found irregularities in three other hajj agencies located in the same area.

Director General (Administration) Mohammad Munir Chowdhury said, "The aim of the drive is to ensure corruption free travel by hajj pilgrims. This raid will be continued targeting to make sure of corruption and hassle-free hajj activities."
