ACC grills DIG Mizan

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) interrogated on Thursday the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mizanur Rahman in connection with alleged accumulation of wealth illegally.

ACC's spokesman Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB that Mizan arrived at the ACC premise at 9am to face the interrogation.

ACC deputy director Farid Ahmed Patowary quizzed the police officer in the ACC trial room while deputy director of ACC also investigated the allegation.

The anti-graft body found huge cash, apartments, cars and property, and fixed deposit accounts in multiple banks.

The Commission also found his involvement in money laundering while an ACC probe body also found misconduct on duty against the police officer.

The Commission summoned Mizanur Rahman on April 25 to appear before sending a letter to the office of IG in this regard.

Earlier in January, Mizanur Rahman was withdrawn from the DMP headquarters and attached to the Police headquarters following allegation of marrying a woman forcefully and torturing her.

Mizan allegedly picked up Morium Akter and forcefully married her.

Later following a family feud Mizanur instigated arrest of Morium in a false case.
