ACC asks for actions against doctor for neglecting duty

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday asked the health ministry to promptly take actions against a physician for being absent from duty at a public hospital for nearly seven months.

The anti-graft watchdog, upon receiving complain at its hotline, conducted a drive at Directorate General of Health Services and learned that Dr Abdul Kader is absent from duty at Rangamati Medical College (RMC) for seven months.

On top of it, he drawing salary every month even though he is neglecting his responsibility, said a statement.   

The drive was conducted by a three-member ACC team led by its director Shafiqur Rahman Bhuiyan, added the statement.

Additional director general of the Directorate General of Health Services professor Dr Nasima Sultana also sent a notice to the doctor asking for explanation of his absence during the ACC raid.

Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare transferred the doctor to the hospital on July 19, 2018.

Muhammad Munir Chowdhury, director general (administration) said such negligence of duty by a doctor is absolutely unlawful and unacceptable.

He asked the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to take actions in this regard.
