Abdul Hamid becomes president again

Abdul Hamid, AL candidate for 23rd presidential polls, has been re-elected president uncontested as no other candidates filed nomination.

Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda announced the development on Wednesday at a press briefing at the Nirbachan Bhaban in the city.

As the tenure of the President came to an end, the Awami League government nominated Abdul Hamid for his second term of presidency.

The President holds executive powers and is the supreme commander of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. The President is also responsible for appointing the Supreme Court’s Chief Justice.
