9th wage board starts functioning

The newly formed 9th wage board to propose fresh salary structure for newsmen and employees in newspapers and news agencies started functioning  on Tuesday.

Chairman of the wage board Justice Md Nizamul Haque held meetings with Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu and State Minister Tarana Halim at the secretariat in Dhaka.

The chairman discussed various aspects of the 9th wage board during the meetings and thanked the government for selecting him for the post.

The information minister welcomed him and urged to formulate an outline of the wage board activities.

Information Secretary Md Nasir Uddin and Joint Secretary (Press) and the 9th Wage Board Member Secretary Md Mizan ul Islam were present at that time.

The chairman also visited the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) and selected a portion of the second floor of the PIB Old Building for setting up his office.

According to BSS, Director General (DG) of PIB Md Shah Alamgir and Wage Board Member Secretary Mizan ul Islam accompanied the chairman.

The government on January 29 formed the 13-member 9th wage board for the journalists headed by retired Appellate Division Judge Md Nizamul Haque.
