Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun said a total of 89 state-of-the-art laboratories are being set up to make Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) a world-class body for ensuring global-class service in product testing and weight and measurement.
The BSTI has already started issuing halal certificates for quality enhancement, testing, certification of products, provision of assurance of correct weight and measurement, issuance of management systems certificates as well as increasing exports of domestic products, he also pointed out.
The minister came up with the remarks at a discussion styled Metrology in the Digital Era organized by the BSTI on Sunday.
The industries minister Mahmud was present at the function as the chief guest with Director General of the BSTI Md Nazrul Anwar in the chair.
