82 Covid-19 cases, three deaths reported in 24 hours

Bangladesh has registered 82 new cases of COVID-19 in a day, taking the total caseload from the disease to 1,950,609.

The country also recorded three more deaths related to the disease, raising the total toll to 29,117, according to the latest government data released on Sunday, reports bdnews24.com.

As many as 9,082 samples were tested across the country, for a positivity rate of 0.90 per cent.

Among the eight divisions, Dhaka recorded the highest number of cases, with 62 infections.

Another 837 people recovered from the illness nationwide, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,870,471.

The latest figures put the recovery rate at 95.89 per cent and the mortality rate at 1.49 per cent.

Globally, over 469.82 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus and 6.07 million have died, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
