Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members recovered 7,750 Yaba tablets from a bus and arrested its helper at Padua Bazar in Lohagarah Upazila of Chattogram district on Wednesday, reports UNB.
Tipped off, a team of RAB-7 set up a special check-post on Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway.
The RAB members intercepted a ‘Shah Amin Service’ bus coming from Cox’s Bazar at around 05:50 pm.
As the elite force members started searching the bus, its helper Shahidul Islam, 55, son of late Abdur Rashid of Chakaria Upazila in Cox’s Bazar, and supervisor Mohammad Ruhul Amin, 30, son of Abdur Rashid of the same upazila tried to run away.
The RAB team managed to catch Shahidul after a hot chase while Ruhul fled.
Later, the contraband Yaba pills were recovered from the bus on information gleaned from its helper.
The RAB also seized the bus, said a RAB-7 press release.
