A total of 5,637 CNG-run auto-rickshaws were registered in Dhaka city in 2018 - a year when all of such vehicles manufactured in 2002 or earlier were also dismantled.
A year before, in 2017, 42 auto-rickshaws were registered, according to statistics provided by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA).
The BRTA data added that 582 CNG-run auto-rickshaws were given registrations in 2016, 428 in 2015, 56 in 2014, 60 in 2013 and 111 in 2012, 112 in 2011 in the capital.
