At least 55 women were tortured to death for dowry in the first eight months of the calendar year, according to a local legal aid and rights body.
Besides, 66 women were physically tortured in the country from January to August 2020, the Ain O Salish Kendra (ASK) disclosed this in a report.
A total of 107 cases were filed in connection with the incidents, the data also revealed.
As many as 96 women were tortured to death in 2019 for dowry while the number was 85 in 2018, the ASK added.
