52,000 tonnes of wheat arrive from Ukraine

A Liberian flag-ship carrying 52,500 tonnes of wheat from Ukraine arrived at Chattogram port.

The cargo ship "Magnum Fortune'' reached the outer anchorage of the port on Wednesday evening for the first time since the Russia-Ukraine war began on February 4, Abdul Quader, District Food Controller, Chattogram, told journalists.

"The ship 'Magnum Fortune' will move to the silo jetty for releasing the food grain after the verification of the sample," he added.

The government procured the wheat on a government-to-government (G2G) basis last September, reports BSS.

Earlier on 13 October, "Silak-2" carrying 52,000 of wheat arrived at Chattogram port from Russia. Another shipment from Russia is in the offing, sources said.
